G20 Funk
Since 2018
G20 Funk was founded on Rebecca Williams' desire to perform live music in Oklahoma City. She contacted Steven Vanjewel and Rick"Big Strat Player" Adams to collaborate with her for a one-time acoustic performance at Bistro 46, Oklahoma City. After a successful show, Rebecca, Big Strat Player and Vanjewel teamed up again to form the group now known as G20 Funk. (Funk is short for funky) Vanjewel describes the band as a "funky soul band". G20 Funk mixes up their performances with a variety of music genres. Bassist, Terry knighten and drummer, Isaiah Thomas joined the group in 2019. The legendary keyboardist, Garcia Tarver and keyboardist, Jordan Macgill joined soon afterwards. G20 Funk has performed with several guest artists such as Gerri Franklin, Lisa Davis and Lynda Knox of JAIA and saxophonist Philip Smith. The band's background vocal line-up now includes Pamela Hammond, Holly Lee and Lisa Davis. The current line-up also includes Dr. Fred Hammond on saxophone.
